I was a float office lady handeling bulk money, switchboard operator ,
I am a very honest and hard working person. I've worked under preasure and it never got me down. I've worked with bulk money every day ordering and making change for cashier and still managing the switchboard.
Pros: I loved going to work everyday because we were like a family at work. Ive learned as co-workers u need to respect one another. The most challenging was for me to balance at the end of a very busy day.
Cons: That I was a casual for 10 years.

Pick n Pay work experience
Pick n Pay has has taken me from a space planner for retail to a Buyer, i have learnt more than anyone could have imagined e.g. How to mange margins product level as well as DC margins, daily pricing as well as promotional, negotiating daily with suppliers, dealing with store issues and finding a solution for it, ensuring that the DC is running smoothly and all vendors comply to the DC requirements, Managing customer complaints, Forecasting promotional activity and reaching sales and margin budgets, presenting category plans to all HOD's for sign off and the list can go on.
Pros: Great opportunity for Promotions with the company
Cons: Hard supplier negotiating and 12 hour days, everyday

Good leaning experience
Pick n pay is a company that changes daily and a fast paste enviroment that waits for no one.There is always so much to do the work never stops but as a manager it is your duties to uphold and maintain your department making sure you keep to hygiene standards,POS,product is fresh and available for purchase.Also deligating work to staff is very important cause as a manager it take the heavy load off your shoulders giving you more time to focus on admin.
Pros: Great opportunitie to grow with company
Cons: Takes to long to give promotions

Stepping stone
I want to start my own business, so I need fund to get it off the ground, photography is the business I'm passionate about, it excites me, I would love to myself employing people, atleast contribute to reducing south African unemployment rate.

Excellent learning curve
There is a lot of hands on work, ensuring the that the operations is working effectively and efficiently. Constant interaction with the all staff, troubleshooting and providing solutions to challenges that may arise during the operation.

Getting a new job
We deliver around KZN stores our duty as assistant is to offload the truck and load returns.making sure the stock is kept fresh and safe though it is a risky job because accident happens anytime on the road but we've been given no benefits or medical aids and no overnight allowance. We own no transport and we've been given not transport to work though we are scheduled early shifts 3:00AM OR 20:00
Pros: No promotion or salary increase
Cons: Long hours worked and either midnight or early morning from 03:00

Taught me to work hard
Retail experience has taught me a lot of things, it has groomed me, taught me to be a family provider, and many other things, I loved my work, is just that sometimes working for an independent retail is of disadvantage at times, there's hardly growth, you find yourself worked for more than 5 year for the company but in the end results of your hard work can be invain....working with fellow colleagues is nice especially when you work with people who are disciplined and working conscientiously mostly, work becomes easy and enjoyable.

Good entry level job
At the beginning it was fine but as I matured in the industry I slowly lost interest because I learnt to realise that tertiary education is not valued especially at store level. Senior managers takes things personally, if you challenge them, if you voice out your concerns or if you report them for their mistreatment your career will reach the death end. The system is corrupt in that if you don't do as they say and stop questioning them you will be stack in one place with no reason. Immediate managers will actually blackmail you. They capitalise on your mistake and are good at badmouthing. Being sick or having personal problems that hinders you from coming to work on a specific day is like commiting a crime.
Pros: Great opportunity for individuals without tertiary qualifications
