Pick n Pay work experience

Pick n Pay has has taken me from a space planner for retail to a Buyer, i have learnt more than anyone could have imagined e.g. How to mange margins product level as well as DC margins, daily pricing as well as promotional, negotiating daily with suppliers, dealing with store issues and finding a solution for it, ensuring that the DC is running smoothly and all vendors comply to the DC requirements, Managing customer complaints, Forecasting promotional activity and reaching sales and margin budgets, presenting category plans to all HOD's for sign off and the list can go on.

Pros: Great opportunity for Promotions with the company
Cons: Hard supplier negotiating and 12 hour days, everyday

Poor learning curve

I am working hard but nobody appreciate the effort, the energy and the time. The salary isn't supportive. I spend most of the time working because I don't have a basic salary. I am willing to work, I've got energy I just need a new job. I have learnt merchandising of the stock, how to control the stock and how to receive the stock. I don't really enjoy anything at my company. It is just a matter of my children and my family if it wasn't for them I'd just wait and see what's the new challenging thing that would come my way.

Learning curve

I have woring relationship with employees and it good environment learn but not to be undermine at all time. The challenging thing is that not given right tools to do job at hand or perform task, you been give task to complete but not guidance is give and expert you finish within short period of time.

Okay but room for better improvement

Was an excellent company to work for but there was no social life. As you worked monday to Sunday. Long hours. Promotion were difficult to get as the company had an mandate to employ less people and give the workload to the few there. And I believed I had more to offer and want to try other sectors.

Pros: Not much
Cons: 15hrs in a day

Dynamic organisation

Leroy Merlin is a great company that embraces diversity in different cultures. The work life balance exists which works for. However opportunities for growth are a bit limited otherwise contrary to that, Leroy Merlin is a wonderful organisation to work for.

I am a hard working fast learner and target driven individual, I always ready to take on something new new and very keen on team working and interpersonal communication, I love meeting new people and experiences. I am always open to new challenges because it helps me to gain more experience and motivate me to work harder.

No challenge

I need a job that challenges me everyday of my life not a routine job that requires me to do one thing again and again everyday of my life, administration jobs are my kind of jobs that I have passion for
