Pick N Pay Reviews

Very interesting position

Work at Pick n Pay Family Store Meadowlands, work six hours a day six days a week, and earn R 2800 P/m. No promotions, no salary increase a year and no bonus at all. No overtime pay, no Sundays pay and no holidays pay. I deal with difficult customers and sometimes very understanding customers. Team work is what l love the most about my job. I have learned to be very paciant and very understanding when dealing with people.

Pros: I have learned a very strong customer service
Cons: It does not pay

Enjoy challenging myself

Day usually starts at 7 and ends at 4. First thing I do in mornings is to check orders going into stores 2 days from today, engage different stakeholders such as the category planners as well as DC personel. Everyone knows me by name, and I prefer talking through a call as that is fast and gets straight to the point. I always look for additional work to do, or how can I help the other person next to me. I enjoy the fact that there is no micro management, you do what you have to do in order to meeting your daily and weekly deliverables. Challenging because information isnt always easy to get as well as we find ourselves working long hours on days where we must sort out certain issues as well as during peak

Pros: Great place to kick off one's carrer
Cons: Growth has staggnated

Excellent

Ian a very hard working individual who is always willing ti meet their targets and always goes an extra mile in achieving the company's goals. An opportunity to interract with the outside pipo and a platform to showcase your capability. Iam simeone who enjoys being among people hence i chose to study Human Resources, the most difficult aspect of the job is you are the eyes of the company, the ears of the compaby but all you dont have to do is spreaf peoples personal information

Pros: an opportunity to gain exposure in the industry
Cons: Long working hours

Team player and ability to work nder pressure

Normal working hours start at 06h00 in the morning. This includes weekend when you are on scheduled duty.As sson as the daily volume is received my team needs to put a optimal plan together for effective deliveris to 157 stores in the Western Cape. The transport plan then submitted to the transport team for accurate execution.Very good relation ship with fellow employees and they will always ask me for advise. The biggest lesson learnt is to work under pressure and to be accurate in execution of duties.I strive on the fact when I see possitive results and that my sustomers are satisfied with the end result.Challenging aspects will always be long working hours and to stisfy the customer.

Pros: To lead my team to achieve KPI's
Cons: Unpredictability in the FMCG envirement

Great work experience

A typical work was just like any other 9 - 5' I got along with almost everyone mainly because I have a friendly face. What I learned is that I should stay humble and not expect everything to go my way. What I enjoyed the most was the laughs I used to share with my fellow co-workers. I never faced any challenges really so that is what I'm looking for.

Pros: Great working experience
Cons: It wasn't challenging enough

Hard worker

I am currently working with orders, sales and I also pack out all stock. I assist when I have warehouse or delivery. I deal with urgent issues in most of the time, like try to help customer as quick as possible. In case I am running out of stock I try by all means to get it for customers as it help the company to grow in terms of sales. I assist in display as well as pricing and labels to make sure that customers pay for what they see. Updates price, investigate for my stock and fix as soon as possible. I am energetic, hard worker and learn everything in every where. When it comes to customers I put them first as they support business.

Pros: Work hard to keep smart
Cons: I can work under pressure as it is my everyday habit

Poor learning curve

I am working hard but nobody appreciate the effort, the energy and the time. The salary isn't supportive. I spend most of the time working because I don't have a basic salary. I am willing to work, I've got energy I just need a new job. I have learnt merchandising of the stock, how to control the stock and how to receive the stock. I don't really enjoy anything at my company. It is just a matter of my children and my family if it wasn't for them I'd just wait and see what's the new challenging thing that would come my way.

Pros: Less opportunities
Cons: Long working hours

My time at my previous job was good hey I didn't have any problem in fact was promoted later on becoming a team leader..I had a good relationship with all the employees including the employer. With all being said the job made me to realise that in order to succeed in life you must work really hard.

Pros: team leader - promotion
Cons: none
