Excellent learning curve

I have worked with the Standard Bank AML and fraud departments to enhance controls to help with preventative procedures that would alleviate potential losses. I am a self starter and can easily motivate myself and I do not need much supervision. My verbal and written skills come in handy when working in a team environment and I am computer literate.

Good company to work for but growth is limited

My day to day activities include pro-actively contacting clients on my portfolio to identify opportunities snd set up appointments. A minimum of two client visits per day is also done to meet with clients snd assist with their financial needs. I skso attend to various requests as received on e-mail and submit credit applications where required. My current client base is around 400 clients and their dsy to day bsnking requirements are attended to in various forms. I also assist with looking at their financial pkanning requirements in terms if retirement, estate planning, wealth creation and preservation as well as risk snd liability cover in personal as well as business capacity.

Pros: Staff benefits, flexibility
Cons: I do not believe current remuneration is in line with the role I fulfill.

Learning to open accounts

I enjoy working with my colleagues and they are always vibrate and 90% of the staff members are young so we have better understanding interms of working relationship. I have learnt to understand everyone and appreciate their input on the work or the ideas we tabling for the week:s meeting. Ienjoy being a teller and I enjoy serving people. The greatest challenge at work is to understand people that you work with and to promote the oneness within the employees.

Career at the Bank

The company is a great place to find your feet and seek your passions as there is a multitude of people with various expertise and experience to help guide you in the right direction. The company has different mentorship programmes in place for staff who seek to advance themselves within the company and has supportive staff who are accommodative of one's growth. In terms of routine one day is never the same as one interacts with different people with different issues that need to be resolved. I have learned to be more accomodating of different cultures and personalities and to adapt fast to an ever changing environment. I have learned that I have to be a confident self-starter to stand out from the crowd. The challenge is to keep reinventing oneself year in and year out staying relevant within a large corporation and maintaining excellent results on an annual basis. I enjoy the culture created.

To work as and advisor for the bank you have to source for your own leads .

based on my own expertise , it i have realised that if you do not push your yourself to reac your desire outcome no one else will do it for you. i have learnt that by listening to your client there's a great potential that you can closed the deal. I have enjoyed the fact that you paid your own cheque, you're not limited. the challenges is sometime to close the deal. although the database is given , most of the time is your own effort to find clients

Always on

IConduct system training on all new Components. Training being classroom training, one on one sessions, online sessions and e-learning Effectively managing day to day client communication and interaction which includes effective customer service, customer query, resolution and issue management Provide training for end users on how to use our Bank CMS to ensure they can manage and maintain the content o their own sites Monitor Risk and Compliance Develop own Course material

Pros: I learn every day. I work hard, but it is awesome to open a Standard Bank website and know that I did that. And it was good. Every time you pay at a paypoint, do online banking, or look at the money in your wallet - know, that was me and my team.
Cons: We are always on. We are always available. And sometimes miss out on our family lives.

I have found it very difficult to grow despite my vast knowledge in the banking industry.

This is an amazing company to work for with great perks etc. However in terms of promotions or growth, these opportunities are very difficult to come by. Despite being employed for 11 years I have not grown in the direction I had wished to.

Pros: Perks are excellent
Cons: Very difficult to grow in terms of promotions rather than knowledge

Great company

Great company to work for and very good working environment. Room for growth is there but all dependent on managent. Promotions dont come easy no matter how hard you work

Great place to work on and the culture is amazing

A typical work day, when it's not busy at my department, if 5 minutes can pass without any call's I know it's not busy. An relationship with my colleagues are the best we a family, one can talk about the issues and problems we face without any judgement An what I have learned is that you can never say I have seen it All as fraudulent activity or fraudster surprises you with another issue Most challenging it's when client's think you can be a fraudster yet they called you for help and trying to figure out how to convince them You are not.

Pros: Great environment and learning
Cons: 8 to 8 half hours not complaining about that
