My last position
Ti ym... I have been recently retrenched, from Edcon, following the Business Rescue take over from TFG. My last position, held for 4 years, was that of a Regional Commercial Specialist. In the role I was responsible for all P&L analysis as well processing profit patterns for the 3 Regions within my Division. The day to day maintenance of expenses incurred, of the Regions, made up of 46 Jet Stores. Over and above that, I managed the manamanaged the Inventory Reconciliation and OHASA regulations of the Regions.

Great
Amazing and friendly working environment. I learned alot for the department I was placed in. I would love for an opportunity to work there again. I feel like for an entry level position, it's was amazing what the company had to offer me. The opportunities outside the office were spectacular.

Learning curve
Long working hours , work with great people. We work well in teams. I have learnt work well independently without supervision and also a great team player. I enjoy serving customers the most because it allows me to explore new relationships in a daily basis.

Good preparation for better opportunities
EDCON is a good company to learn about retail so that when you go somewhere else you are prepared fully to face anything because it is quite volatile. Typical day at work is al about being at your desk and completing what's needed and being called midway for a meeting or conference call and now you will have to work through lunch to complete your work. They don't work on productivity so once you done with your work you need to find something to do because you can't knock off before knock off time.

My current work experience has equipped me with multitude of skills, knowledge and experience including working independently and be creative within the team, time management and ability to identify sales opportunities. My work is all about customer service, handling customer queries, merchandising, implementing promotions, store key duties, alarm testing, driving sales and stock taking What I enjoy most is I play a crucial role in decision-making problem-solving, planning and building healthy relationship with customers. Overall I have leant to look at things differently and in a positive way.
