Great company to work for with excellent work ethic and culture

Eskom is a good company, the culture here encourages growth. There is great opportunities for development and learning - the Bursaries available to all employees. The reporting structures at this company allow a culture of fairness and respect. My typical day starts with planning my activities for the day and who I must interact with. I then would respond to requests, queries and requests from my colleagues and make a few calls. From time to time a day includes meeting attendance.My co-workers are excellent with a very close relationship with them. They are very skilled and educated. We manage to have many valuable discussions about work and solutions to some of the challenges we face.The most enjoyable aspect of my work is interacting with my counterparts in the other country and sharing ideas and progressing the project.The most challenging aspects of the job is being able to determine the correct approach to building a business case that will bring the project to feasibility.

Excellent learning curve

The nature of work is interesting as I get to apply what I have learnt at varsity on projects and investigations I get.The projects gives me an opportunity to do a bit of research, study documents(standards) , interact with experienced employees(ask questions) and conduct some modeling and investigations prior concluding on the feasible solution. This is a great learning opportunity that develops not just my knowledge but leaderships skills and teamwork as well. What I like the most is that everyone is striving for growth and excellence which inspires me to be the best. The most challenging aspects of the job is having to rely on other departments(or requiring external information form other sources) in order to proceed with the project as it usually delays the project due to external employees having other issues to attend to.

Excellent and working independently with no supervision

Hi There! My experience extend from nuclear to fossil power stations. Have a great great experience in Air Quality Control Systems and designing/lmplementing C&I systems. Have been part of multiple descipline team and are a team player. Having moved from nuclear to fossils gives you a clear indication that I am flexible. Great graduate program

At Eskom I have been exposed to both construction supervision of various structures within the power plant as well as design of structures. This extends to structural inspection of concrete components of structures like bridges and chimneys. I have enjoyed both aspects of consulting and construction. Both offer various opportunities and comes with its fair share of challenges. Eskom is a great place for growth provided you are willing to learn and apply yourself accordingly, at the end of the day being part of such a huge company it is very easy to become a number and get lost in the system.

Great opportunity to increase work experience.

It is a good place to work. The plant is big and has ample opportunity to learn new things. We work with people from diverse backgrounds. i mostly work as a turner. The is only two eskom turners in the power station so we service all the departments within the station.

Pros: challenging.
Cons: under staffed.

Unique industry - nuclear

a sole generator and supplier of electricity. lots to learn and many opportunities possible but constrained currently due to eskom financial challenges.
