Great growth
Eskom provides a safe working environment. Have visited and have learnt from different departments such as land development, power plant maintenence,control plant maintenance and network development. My colleagues gave me a wonderful welcome on my first day of work and have always been generous towards me

Good company
Very busy daily schedule. I work well in a team as well as individually. I strive to learn more to upgrade my knowledge and experience in life. I am capable and used to working in a large group of people.

Good learning curve
I had a good experience, I have learned a lot they treated us good and they we patience with us giving us a chance to understand and do things on our own, I have learned a lot mostly on working under maintenance and I enjoyed working there cause we did that frequently and I used to it, the challenge that I faced was when we had to do the job with artisans under cable department, we had a fault on the cable and was very hard to find the fault it took the whole day to find it and after that we had to wait for the contractors to dig the hole so dat we can fix it.

Good Solid Experience for a Large company
As a team player I’m always willing to share my technical computer skills, as well as assist in resolving any computer related applications. This ability to think independently before seeking help has developed and increased my problem solving capabilities or skills. I am a self motivated individual who prefares to work smart to reach organisational goals and objectives.
Pros: Great company for exposure to large data reports.

The best learning environnment because eerything is found in this project.
- Biggest project is South Africa - working with people from across the globe with various cultural background and educational levels. - High pressure - Involves construction, commissioning and generation (electricity generation) - probably 90% aspects of environmental management involved in this environment
Pros: Great opportunity for skills development and career growth. Project is dynamic and requires one to thik on their feet in order to push produciton targets and remain within the confines of the law.
Cons: Long working hours, procuction sometimes becomes more important than other aspects. Very dynamic (this can be both positive and negative), no public transport around, work evironment is mostly dusty and requires PPE at all times.

I have been responsible in the design review, construction, commissioning.
I track my plant performance and set out a plan to fix any plant problems.I review plant designs and run various meetings. I have a good working relationship with my co-workers and usually motivate them. I always have a positive outlook towards any challenge.

Opportunity for growth
I lead a team of 7 middle managers that maintain Transmission Lines and substation for High Voltage plant that converts High voltage Direct Current into Alternative current. We support Eskom with 1200MW. The planning of outages and management of plant risk makes the job interesting because I manage budget for the entire maintenance budget and Spares, ensuring that overtime is minimised by proper planning. Commissioning a successful plant and recovery successfully motivated me and the team. Team work is a priority. The challenging part is when the imports are not delivered because we might end up contributing to load shedding. Managing the international team is more challenging
Pros: Great opportunity for climbing the corporate ladder
Cons: Operational hours beyond 40 hours a week, everyday everytime is operations

I have learned alot and managed to pass my trade test
Eskom is a bug company where production is a priority and you are expected to make sure the plant runs well without any repeating of jobs due to wrong way of doing things,everyone knows their objectives therefore no one is supposed to be reminded to checj or do inspections in their respective plant,when there is measure outages we all are expected to work day and night and to assure our superior that time set will be meet.i have learnt to worker under different leaders witb different approaches.
