Great challenges with exceptional experience building
The biggest construction site in the southern hemisphere with a lot of challenges to keep 18000+ people on site productive. Achieved this by micro managing different contractors on high level. Held owners, MD's responsible and had reporting sessions weekly for them in auditorium with the Project Director. Had to get fit to climb 6 of 100 meters structures daily to monitor progress on all levels (civil, piping, mechanical, equipment, procurement, safety, permit to work ect). At the end our small management team pulled the schedule back by 8 months and a billion Rand plus saving to Eskom.

A typical day at the office
A request for a new project is sent through with some technical detail, one has to do a little bit of research in terms of what the scope requires, has this ever been done before by whom and when. Consultations begin with the various technical expertise in the business with some forthcoming with information and others not. One has to be mindful of timelines, some projects stimulate the creativity side of me others are not and that’s where I bounce of the idea with fellow colleagues. One feels happy when targets for supplier development are sent through to relevant buyer however on some days it’s not like that you read through a pile of legislations trying to make sense of how best to apply to a project. Scope is not clarified as much as you would like however decisions have to be made with little information and that’s challenging however exciting.
Pros: Interaction with people from all walks of life, changing the lives of people through the contracts they are awarded and the smile that it brings to them is so fulfilling.
Cons: The work is a lot and there is no much support from management.

Most my work expereince
My work is focus on construction management and project management. Ensure safety and health , quality and managing interfaces. I attend to Human resources issue of people under my section. Team meetings and site inspection. I enjoy planning of activities and tracking the progress. Report writing is also my responsibility and report to senior management on progress and milestone achieved or some challenges which need their intervention.
Pros: Great learning opportunities and learning diefferent disciplines
Cons: Weekend works and long hours .

Good place to improve careet
-Challenging environment with unique challenges -Fellow employs have little to no urgency in the work they do -The company values employees skills improvement. They fund for external courses very well.

Hard worker
ippomkkkkI am a competent and driven manager who has experience of working within a fast paced manufacturing environment, steel plant and kkkpower plant. I am able to work independently and have superb problem solving, research, technical investigation, judgment and decision making skills. I am experienced in all the design stages of a project/product, including research, development and manufacturing, right through to installation and the final commissioning. I possess an ability to see the big picture whilst at the same time focusing on the tasks at hand, and managing multiple projects. On top of all of this, I have a successful track record of analysing information and evaluating results to choose the best engineering solution to supposedly unresolvable problems. vvmm

Excellent learning curve
The company provides excellent learning opportunities, but it might be very limited depending on your direct manager. Just as most things can be motivated by your line manager, so can it be blocked or not motivated when needed. Still, the vast experience in such a large company should not be dismissed.
Pros: Vast experience possibilities, great working hours, good fringe benefits.
Cons: Limitations if not under the correct management.

Good work Relations and experience
Working for the Company is Interesting and challenging especially because its a very big industry.
