Woolworths Reviews

Great place to for learning

I get to interact with customers on a daily basis and help them with problems they come up against in the store such as giving them knowledge about certain products they do not understand.everyday I put stock an the shelf In a way that will attract customers and increase sales.we also insure that expired items are removed from the shelf since we believe in providing the best service to our customers.working as a team helps us to work more efficiently, our team leaders give us a lot of information we need and I have learnt a lot from them such as how to motivate your team to do the best they can to work hard and stir them into the right direction.the thing I enjoy most is interacting with customers and helping them resolve their problems. The most challenging part is working with cold chain products because you have to ensure that they stay in a constant temperature level as required by the store at all times.

Pros: great place for growth
Cons: long working hours

Nice company but its not so much busy, sometimes we stay more than 5 minutes without customers. I like to work very hard because I am a hard worker and I adapt very fast.

Pros: great opportunity for promotion
Cons: normal hours

Good entry level job

A typical work day as a till operator is to make sure your till works, is clean, you have the necessary equipment (such as pen, serviettes, spoons, forks, etc). Because you work with customers its best to walk the floor in order to know what is on special and to see if there's enough stock of items and also to better promote the brand with certain sale items , etc I've learnt to always be flexible and to know your stock

Pros: Flexibility, building relationships with both colleagues and customers and getting to know who your customer is
Cons: Long working hours

No growth

There is no growth and superiors dont engage with staff when visiting stores. When opportunities come they are racist. They implement policies but dont follow them

Pros: No opportunities for growth

Good learning curve

I am currently employed as a till operator, flexi 28, we normally work 32 days a months depending on our staffing, but the minimum working ours for us 28hours per month, we work 8 hours a day, we are all taught to have a good relationship with each other, that is greeting with smile is the key to creating a positive environment, i have learnt to interact with other people, team work, to always stay positive about everything, and so many other things, what i enjoy most is to engage with with positive people that makes my day to go well and dont get lazy to go to work, and that helped me to make the customers smile everyday, whats challenging is that could be difficult to work with, even when you try so hard they don't respond, but we keep on trying....we asked sometimes to go an etra mile by assisting other departments when its not that busy in our department, and we cooperate with that

Pros: we do have opportunities to grow but it takes some time for us to be allowed to grow to other positions
Cons: its normal working hours, different shifts

All rounded experience given within different sectors within the business that interlink

I was exposed to many departments which made the understanding of what is expected of me as a merchandiser much more broader than what meets the eye, I rely on each one's process and tasks in order for me to complete my own daily tasks, which meant working coherently and effectively with teams and individuals.

Pros: Great Reference on CV
Cons: Stagnant financial growth
